Cultivating Faith & Bringing Hope

  • We Are A Church

Our congregation exists to engage as many people as will share our confession of faith in Jesus Christ in ministries of Worship, Learning, Witness, Service, and Support. As baptized people of God, we will come together in praise and thanksgiving, strengthening our faith through worship, hearing the word of God, sharing the Lord's supper, and accepting God's forgiveness and grace. Through Goad's grace, we share our gifts and resources and are equipped to reach out to each other and our neighbors with love, compassion, and kindness to make disciples of all.

  • We Are Lutheran

We are a church that lives by faith, relying on God's promise in the gospel and realizing that the preaching of this gospel word is the reason we even exist. For the sake of the world's survival, we proclaim the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are not ashamed of this gospel ministry since it is God's power for saving everyone who trusts the God who provides these promises, as the apostle Paul stated (Romans 1:16–17), and we reiterate it in our Constitution (2.02). "We are to fear and love God so that we do not hate preaching or God's word, but keep that word holy and willingly hear and learn it," the Bible says (Small Catechism).

This emancipated, certain, and charitable faith is produced by God's word, particularly by the promise made to us in Jesus Christ. God bestows the Holy Spirit, who employs the proclamation of the gospel through preaching, the sacraments, talks about forgiveness, and healing. This faith is created and maintained by the Holy Spirit. This gospel message occupies a fundamental place in our ministry as a Lutheran congregation.

We believe that to be ecumenical means to be devoted to the unity to which God has called the world through the atoning gift of Jesus Christ, while also acknowledging the historical divisions within the church and the mandate from God to mend them.

  • We Are Church Together

Through baptism, God connects us not only to the ELCA and The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), but to all other communities of Christian faith around the world. This is similar to how God connected us to Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. None of us live apart from others in Christ. Jesus is our peace and has torn down the barriers that separate us—walls of condemnation, hatred, and violence—and has united us into a brand-new human community (Ephesians 2:14-15). This spiritual connection is solely dependent on God's mercy, which is communicated to us through the word and sacraments. We long for this communion at the Lord's table with all Christians because that is sufficient cause for unification.

We are able to see and value the diversity within Christ's body because God grants us our oneness in Christ. Instead of viewing it as a threat or a problem that needs to be fixed, we accept it as a gift and enjoy it (1 Corinthians 12:12-13). We appreciate and value the variety of backgrounds, customs, linguistic groups, and life experiences that exist within the ELCA as well as the broader Christian religion. We actively try to prevent any group's culture from becoming the standard for everyone in the ELCA. We seek the full involvement of all in the life and work of this church. Additionally, we work to address the ways that discrimination against people based on their race, gender, or class harms communities and individuals. While repentantly confessing its shortcomings and wrongdoings and putting its faith in God's redeeming mercy, the ELCA seeks to bring about healing and reconciliation with other Christians in all of these relationships.

  • We Are Church for the Sake of the World

Christ has set us free from sin, death, and even from ourselves so that we can serve our neighbors with love and generosity as ministers of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). All of life, including every act of service, every daily vocation, and every nook and cranny of existence, flows freely from a living, daring belief in God's grace in Jesus Christ.

We assist members as they freely give themselves in changing service with the neighbor because Christ's life has set us free. We cultivate faith, form partnerships, and amass resources for a whole, atoned, and just world through a variety of daily vocations and ministries. Together as the church, we diligently work to take part in God's reconciling mission, which places a priority on marginalized, helpless, and displaced people in our local communities and around the globe. Through education and moral reflection, we identify and investigate our vocations in relation to God. Through discussion and cooperation with ecumenical partners and people of different religions, we provide testimony to the love of God in Jesus Christ. God's generosity is poured forth through us into the life of the world in all of these activities.
